A PLEA

Yesterday’s post has zero views. Most posts here have less than 10 views. Am I wasting my time doing this? It would seem so. Maybe it’s time to hang all this up. In a year filled with discouragement, my optimism is a bit strained. Am I just a voice in the wind heard by no one—or, worse, willfully ignored?

I’m not asking for praise…I just wonder if I haven’t wasted my time over the past five years doing this every day. When Facebook became untenable, I lost a major portion of my audience—simply because so many people are too lazy to change their ways. Millions, if not billions, of people still use Facebook, despite it having capitulated to the corrupt Christofascism that is trying to destroy our country. I chose to walk away from that poisoned field at the risk of complete obscurity. I realize that what I do here is a mere trifle in the scheme of things. I’ve tried to offer a ray of hope of the good in mankind via the music I love, but it doesn’t seem to have much agency.

I am grateful for the three or four people who frequent this site, but I’m beginning to see the light—that what I do doesn’t matter and is trivial at best. It’s a harsh reality to face, but there it is.

If you like this site, I implore you to tell 10 people you know about it—and to send them the URL of this webpage. It’s in their hands to visit or not. That is out of anyone’s control. If you still use Facebook, or are on Bluesky or other social media groups, please consider posting a link to this website. People must be told over and over and over about things. I have no way to promote what I do here without badgering people, which I don’t like doing. But if what I do here means anything to you, I ask you to help me promote it. Please get the word out if you can. Otherwise, I think it may be time to call it a day.

Doing this is a true labor of love. I’ve never made any money from it—not that I had that as a goal. I believe that I offer something of value in my curation of music and the information I bring to these posts—to say nothing of the audio restorations I perform on these vintage records. But it all seems for naught. The percentage of visitors has dwindled to near-nothing. If no one cares, then there’s no reason for me to continue with this.

  1. Just wanted to thank you for all the amazing posts, Frank. Whatever you decide in terms of continuing with them I completely understand. I am not a smart phone user so I'm only able to check out the posts when I'm on the computer...sometimes I'm away for a couple of days or just not online much. But I always try to catch up at some point. All best.
